Friends of the Wekiva River (FOWR) Butterflies and Wildflowers at Wekiwa Springs State Park

Join FOWR at Wekiwa Springs State Park (WSSP) to learn about and view some of the amazing wildflowers and the butterflies they attract! Registration is required and information on how to register will be provided 2 weeks prior to the event.

Nancy Prine, a FOWR Board Member and expert on butterflies, will give an introduction on their habits and habitats and will lead a hunt through the longleaf pine sandhill area. Expect to see plenty of wildflowers among the wiregrass and turkey oaks.

The hike is free but the park entrance fee is $6/vehicle (up to 8 people) and $4 for a single driver.

Closed-toed comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Also bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellant,  hat, camera, and binoculars.
This hike is appropriate for adults and children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Hike difficulty is easy to moderate. 

Bring a picnic lunch and your swimming gear to enjoy the park after the hike concludes!

Group limited to 15.
